The 5 Signals

- Vocabulary Diversity — AI often reuses the same words. We measure type-token ratio across sliding windows.
- Transition Words — Words like "moreover," "furthermore," and "in conclusion" appear far more often in AI text than human writing.
- AI-Favored Words — Certain words ("utilize," "delve," "comprehensive") are statistically overrepresented in AI output.
- Paragraph Uniformity — AI writes paragraphs of consistent length. Humans vary wildly between 1-sentence and 7-sentence paragraphs.
